Most clients come to a photo shoot with some tension. This is normal.
Everyone has a different profession, lifestyle, and experience. Photo sessions don’t happen regularly, aren’t part of a daily routine, and aren’t a skill that someone must master in advance.
Therefore, any worries like “I’m not photogenic”, “I’m wooden”, “I don’t wear heels”, “I don’t understand how to move and where to put my hands” are not the client’s problem.
It’s part of the process. And the photographer’s responsibility.
How do I work with posing?
1. Analysis of plasticity and individual characteristics
The shoot always begins with test shots. At this point, I observe your natural flexibility, movements, tempo, and reactions. I determine:
- Working angles
- Strength
- Perfect posture and movement
- Emotional state in the frame
This allows you to immediately organize the shooting not according to a template, but for a specific person.
2. Step-by-step guidance through the filming process
During the main part of the shoot, I demonstrate the plastic surgery on myself and briefly explain the movements. This takes a few seconds and doesn’t overwhelm the client with information.
The person doesn’t “learn to pose, ” but simply repeats and adapts the movement to their own needs. I also use visual references to help the client understand the image and mood.
3. Working with clamps and internal tension
If tension, stiffness, or uncertainty arise during the process, we slow down. I explain what exactly is happening with the body and emotions, and why this is normal.
Through dialogue and calm accompaniment, we reach a shared state. At this point, the client loses control and begins to move naturally. Very often, the person doesn’t even notice when exactly they “started posing.”
What does posing mean to me?
Posing is not about a set of correct poses or copying other people’s images.
For me it is:
- conscious work with the gaze
- control of the body without violence
- ability to convey a state and image
- absence of fear and stiffness in the frame
This is a skill that can be developed at any age and with any experience level. Clients learn basic posing techniques during the photo shoot.
As a result, a person leaves not only with photographs, but also with an understanding of their body in the frame. If my approach resonates with you, I invite you to a photo session 📷🤍 @baeva.photo
